Dinner Party
WHO: Zhuiying, Langfei, Huaisang, Xichen
WHERE: Zhuiying’s apartment
WHEN: The Saturday after he and Langfei hook up
WHAT: Inviting his friends to meet his ?? Boyfriend??
WARNINGS: Who knows
Zhuiying had cleaned his apartment three times already that day. It was sparse to begin with, but he had scrubbed the entire thing within an inch of its life while Langfei was out working. He’d sent him multiple texts to add things to the grocery list, and had started food prep hours early.
He was nervous. He didn’t normally get nervous, not like this, not with this weird restless energy. But he wanted Huaisang and Xichen to like Langfei - to approve of him - and he wanted to prove that he hadn’t just convinced the man to move into a hovel. That he intended - and indeed already was - taking good care of him.
The fading black eye probably wouldn’t help, but Zhuiying lightened it up with a little concealer and that was that. When Langfei got back he immediately took the groceries to finish up preparations.
He wasn’t a natural cook, but he was precise and exacting, so he found a few good recipes and followed those to the tee.
When he heard the chime at the door he nearly jumped out of his skin. He never invited people home. Ever. Not until Langfei. But it seemed like his home finally had something in it worthy of coming for.
He still had the apron on when he answered the door.
“Hey, come on in. I was just finishing up. There’s wine on the table if you want a glass.”
He may have already had one.
